Words of Wisdom

Hello my wonderful readers!! Before I jump right into this post, I wanted to let you know that I will be starting a new series called 'Words of Wisdom Wednesdays' (catchy right?). Every Wednesday I'll post quotes that have either inspired or encouraged me. I really hope you enjoy this new series as much as I will :).

I find this quote particularly inspiring because I feel like as humans we are always trying to reach a standard of perfection. But we rarely realize that some of the most imperfect things are the most beautiful. For example there is nothing more adorable than seeing a six year old's gap toothed smile. Or the obvious fact that the bloopers are the best part of a movie. Or the way that storms and landslides have made mountains jagged and breathtaking. 

Not only are strange and odd things beautiful. But they are what make life interesting. It is what makes every single person different and unique. So instead of getting frustrated with your flaws, enjoy them. Find the beauty in the imperfections all around you. 

Your Hair Is Beautiful

If you are a girl (and this probably even relates to guys) I'm sure you have stared at your hair in the morning and been like, "Why me?". We've all had those days where we wake up looking like Mufasa from Lion King. Unfortunately for most girls regardless of whether they are having a good hair day or a bad one they still hate their hair. Rarely any of us actually love our locks for 'who' they are. If it's curly we want it to be straight. If it's straight we want it curly. And if our hair's wavy we want it to make up it's mind to be either.

Have you ever taken the time to notice that all hair is beautiful. No matter if it's straight or wavy or curly or kinky. Too many of us are focused on keeping up with the fads of this world that we rarely enjoy the natural beauty we were given. So I'm going to briefly explore the different hair types and what makes them each so unique and gorgeous.

Straight hair is long and gentle. It has soft wisps that smoothly cascade down your shoulders. But on the other hand it can be easily sleeked back and wrapped tightly in a bun for a more business look. It is adaptable and changeable for many range of styles. Though it never loses it's softness. 

If you have this hair type please stay away from the curling products that the media continuously tries to sell you. Your hair is gorgeous on its own.  Enjoy your smooth soft hair for what it is.

Wavy hair is effortless and beautiful. It's thick and has beautiful waves that naturally add depth to your hair. You get natural beach waves everyday. Wavy hair is the perfect balance between curly and straight. It gives you volume, but still has the softness of straight hair. 

Many times those of you who have wavy hair hate it because it seems like it's just straight hair that has a lot of frizz. But it really isn't, when taken care of properly this type of hair has smoothness, volume, curls and softness all in one.

Curly hair is bouncy and fun.You can put it in a ponytail or just leave it down; and it will still look eye catching and playful. Another fun thing about curly hair is that there never seems to be a shortage of it on your head. This hair type is often thick and overflows almost any hairstyle you try to put it in! 

I personally have curly hair and it has taken me a long time to love it. It isn't like many of the other hair types. But that is why curly hair's so special because it is very different. 

Kinky hair is unique and stunning. It consists of tiny tight curls that are dark and beautiful. When put in braids this type of hair looks wonderful and cultural. But also when let to naturally grow it has a unique flair and curl all it's own. Kinky hair is often short but the small curls have such intricacy and detail it blows my mind. 

Now most people I know with kinky hair absolutely hate it. They normally keep it braided all the time or add extensions or even wear wigs. I'm not sure why, but the world has made it clear that their naturally tightly curled hair is unacceptable. This is a straight up lie. Kinky hair is gorgeous, unique, and stunning all at the same time. Don't let anyone tell you different.

As you can see all hair types are beautiful for their own reasons. They each have something special that they offer. So please stop cutting, straightening, curling and dying your gorgeous locks. God has given you the hair you have for a certain reason. And it is marvelous. Please learn to love it and enjoy it.

Happiness Balloons or Joy Filled Hues

Happiness is like balloons.
They come in all shapes and sizes.
The colors bright and alluring.
The painted faces of clowns grinning at you as they hand out these balloons.
But happiness like balloons have a mind of their own.
Many times they fly away,
No matter how hard your fingers are clasped around its tiny string.
Or reality can come in and pop the balloon right in front of your face.
The hollow sound echoing in your ears.
The sting of cheap latex against your skin.
Then there are some who keep these happiness balloons in the corner of their house.
The life slowly seeping out of it.
Until one day it falls, crumpling on the ground.

Joy is like colors.
The bright beautiful colors of nature.
Your friend's pink and blue socks.
A dog's green paws after playing in freshly mowed grass.
The colors are everywhere.
Joy is everywhere.
But few even take the time to notice.
Instead they chase after their balloons of happiness.
